I am truly grateful to have had the privilege and time to read Greg's new book: Uncompromising Faith. As a Husband, Father of 3 children and with full time employment it is rare to be able to sit down and read anything outside of God's Word. Let me start by saying this was well worth the investment! I absolutely loved "Principles" which was also co-authored by Greg Gordon, so I could not wait to get my hands on this read. What I truly love about Uncompromising Faith is that it does not leave you lost in the minute details of the lives of these great men of God, but rather instead takes a snapshot of their lives with the lens of Christ's power working in them, and then moves on to practical application and how the reader can truly glean from their lives.
Whether you are a stay at home mom, or sit in a cubicle all day, or have any kind of variety of work, this book can truly minister to you and encourage you to walk in the same steps of Christ our forerunner, whom these dear man have first followed before us. The author brings the greatness of the achievements of these men to light and then weds it to the empowerment of the Holy Spirit so that the reader is not left with the sinking feeling that a life of purpose and usefulness for the kingdom is out of reach, but rather is fully attainable! The same God of Whitefield, Cennick, Fox and Alline is the same God of our day, and He is seeking such who will worship Him in Spirit and Truth, and lay down their lives as a living sacrifice for the sake of His great Name!
I found the selected quoutes, hymns and writings of these men to be especially encouraging. Greg put personal, painstaking effort to gather all of this history, research and delicious spiritual food for the Body of Christ to simply pull up to the table and feast on and be filled with encouragement and inspiration. I know my soul has been greatly blessed, enriched, and challenged by this book, Uncompromising Faith.
For those who find themselves in a season of uncertainty regarding calling and purpose for their lives, Uncompromising Faith is especially beneficial. It will bolster your faith, seal your convictions regarding the burdens the Lord has given you, and help you to unashamedly and unwaveringly press forward in that High and Noble calling we are called to. If you share the same concern for the Church as the author, and find yourself lamenting over the gap between Book of Acts Christianity and present day Christianity, this book will help you to keep a proper burden without leaving you discouraged - God wants to do it again! I heartily recommend this book, and pray you will consider reading it not only for yourself, but passing it along to friends, relatives and leadership at your local church.
May the Lord Jesus Christ, the God of all great men and women of God, work in us, an unwavering and Uncompromising Faith, for His glory in the earth!
