Description

Tribulation Worketh is a collection of chapters from the writings of G. D. Watson explaining God's loving and purposeful chastening in the lives of His choicest saints. This is an important book for the present day, when the unscriptural concept that the Gospel of Jesus Christ brings success, prosperity, health and wealth is being promoted far and wide.

Watson writes: "There is nothing on earth more ruinous than uninterrupted prosperity.... There is a danger not only in outward prosperity of health and finance and social standing, but the principle is just as true when applied to religious experience; that is, having no trials or crosses to sink the soul in self-abasement."

"Tribulation." The word signifies a flail, or threshing instrument, for beating the chaff from the pure, ripened grain. Remember, chaff is not a type of inbred sin, for it is something that is essential to grain in its milk state, and when growing.... The chaff, or husk, that envelops the grain, represents those things in us which are essential in the infant stages of grace, but are found useless, and can be threshed away when the believer has reached Christian perfection.

Yes, I agree with some statements made about this book that it is especially timely for those sincere believers who, like myself, needed to differentiate between inbred sin and the ongoing “threshing off of the chaff from the grain I order it might grow into it full maturity” to be sent out to feed the nations! It is an arena of on going Christian in being set free from the soul life and being set from deception from religious knowledge or works to the other

Is there discounts to book ministries and free freight? I am 81 minister of the gospel, bible school teacher and discipler of the next generation to come to personal ownership of Jesus, Bible college teacher, missionary to China and India bringing the younger generation to serve the church there to see them give their lives to live for Jesus and follower Him! Books written by those who have gone before us is so important for personal wolk in His will for them! I give away books like these for those who cannot afford them

This was a timely book; validating what the experience of life has been in many of its chapters. It was a feeding of my spirit by the Spirit unlike that which is largely offered today. The chapters are short enough it could be a daily devotional. After sharing some of its contents with my mother, I have now ordered her a copy.

I only recently heard of G D Watson, and I'm so glad I did! This book is a breath of fresh air. Deals with the realities of suffering in the Christian life and speaks of the fruits to be reaped and the treasures to be gained during such times. A wonderful read for anyone, but would make an excellent gift for any believer who is experiencing difficult places in their journey.

I devoured this book. It helped me so much to understand better my often painful spiritual journey during the 71 years of my earthly pilgrimage. I highly recommend the words of Brother Watson to any Christian who is enduring unrelenting trials of any kind and is crying out to God, "Why?" Thank you, Kingsley Press, for bringing back this author to the contemporary church. We need him desperately.
